Maintenance - Relief

Summer 2008 (May 30 – September 15) 
 

Description of job duties: Assists with inspections and performs maintenance repairs. Maintains facilities and areas according to established Company standards. Performs buildings and equipment inspections and assists with repairs, in essence, keeps all facilities running smoothly. The position requires very comprehensive skills with an excellent knowledge of water, septic and propane heating systems as well as electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.

 

Required: The candidate must possess some prior maintenance experience, a strong customer oriented attitude, willing to learn and take pride in his/her work.

Assistant General Site Manager (ASM)

Summer 2008 (May 30 – September 15) 

 

Description of job duties: A position where background in administration is required. The employee must be conscientious and think on their feet. The primary responsibilities are assisting the General Site Manager (GSM) in assuring the highest quality of service to guests, which include answering questions and being knowledgeable about the Denali Backcountry Lodge. Is responsible for working with the GSM in overseeing daily operations of the Site, including employee training and supervision, delegation of tasks, evaluation, dissemination of policies and procedures. The ASM will exercise consistent discretion and judgment in the performance of the work.

 

Required: The candidate must possess one years prior hospitality management experience (some of which is preferred to be at a remote lodge), a valid drivers license and clean driving record, current ServSafe certification, current Alaska Techniques of Alcohol Management (AK TAM), enthusiasm and a strong customer oriented attitude. Current 1st Aid/CPR certification is desirable. Proficient with computers, microsoft office, searchs on web, some graphics and powerpoint work. Some accounting background is preferred.

Guest Services Representative (GSR)/Beginner Naturalist/Guide

Description of job duties: Guest Service Representative is a beginner Naturalist/Guide Position.  GSR will be at the Guest Services Desk/Front Desk most of the time ready to answer guest’s questions and helping them as needed.  The primary responsibility of the Beginner Naturalist/Guide (GSR) is to provide the highest quality of service to the guests at all times.

 

Required: The candidate must possess a degree in outdoor education, recreation or related natural studies, at least one years of educator / trainer of natural history and, preferably a class B commercial drivers license with passenger and air brake endorsement, First Aid Certification, CPR Certification, and a strong customer oriented attitude.

Naturalist 
Summer 2008 (May 30 – September 15) 


Description of job duties:            The primary responsibility of this position is leading hikes, conducting guest activities and providing a high degree of service to guests through cordial interactions as well as accurate and enthusiastic interpretations of the natural and cultural history related to Denali National Park. The employee is responsible for safely transporting guests. The employee works with Lead Naturalist/Guide  and General Site Manager to assure efficient operations. The guides are responsible for the safety of the guests they are guiding. Guides are also required to come prepared with at least 2 one hour-long interpretive programs and are required to clean and care for the van assigned to each. 

 

Required: Excellent communication skills and experience in guiding or interpretive presentations and a clean driving record. The candidate must possess current 1st Aid/CPR Certification, Class B commercial drivers license with passenger and air brake endorsement is preferred. Enthusiasm and a solid customer oriented attitude is required.

Lodge Coordinator /Server/Bartender/Prep

Description of job duties: The Lodge Coordinator/Server/Bartender/Prep is responsible for being knowledgeable and proficient in all aspects of the Lodge and dinning room facilities, services and activities. The primary responsibility is assuring the highest quality of service to guests, which includes coordinating and serving guest meals, cleaning, setting up dinning room and the lounge, answering a variety of questions and providing immediate assistance to guests whenever necessary. Housekeeping (dusting, cleaning, vacuum, etc.) of entire lodge is one of the responsibilities of this position. As and when necessary Lodge Coordinator must assist kitchen in food preparation. The Employee works with the Assistant Manager to coordinate dining operations with lodge operations and guest programs.

 

Required: The candidate must possess a minimum of one-year prior hospitality experience, current Alaska Techniques of Alcohol Management (AK TAM) Certification, current ServSafe certification, enthusiasm and a strong customer oriented attitude.

Description of job duties: The Maintenance Manager, in essence, keeps all facilities running smoothly. This position is responsible for the on-going maintenance and continued improvements of the facility as well as preventative maintenance of the vans and equipment. Naturalist Lead

Description of job duties: The Head Naturalist is responsible for coordinating and supervising the Guides Department. This is a working supervisory position and includes leading hikes in the Denali backcountry, providing purpose, mission and significance of Dneali National Park, natural and cultural history information and transporting guests, along with providing direction, development and training to other guides. The primary responsibility is to provide the highest quality of service to guests at all times through enthusiasm, knowledge of Denali National Park and strong communication skills. The employee works directly with the Management to create a scheduling matrix, including activities and educational programs for guests.

General Site Manager - GSM

Description of job duties: The GSM will work with the President to establish policies and procedures. The General Site Manager supervises all aspects of operations at the Site (Lodge or Cabins), which includes ensuring all departments are successful by providing oversight, tools, supplies, equipment, knowledge, experience and training needed to maintain a high level of guest service. GSM will work as a Human Resource Specialist in the areas of payroll, coaching, disciplinary action, training and team building. This is a hand on position involving taking ownership of the Site.

 

Required: The candidate must possess 5 years previous hospitality management experience; some of that experience should be remote lodge(s), a valid drivers license and clean driving record, current ServSafe certification, current Alaska Techniques of Alcohol Management (AK TAM), enthusiasm and a strong customer oriented attitude. Lead Day Lodge Coordinator

Description of job duties: The Lead Day Lodge Coordinator is responsible for being knowledgeable and proficient in all aspects of the Day Lodge facilities, services and activities and supervising the activities of Day Lodge Coordinators/Guides. The primary responsibility is assuring the highest quality of service to guests, which includes coordinating and serving guest buffet lunch, answering a variety of questions and providing immediate assistance to guests whenever necessary. The Employee works with the Management to coordinate operations and guest programs. The responsabilities include preparation, set up an breakdown of buffet lunch. Cleaning and table set up before and after lunch as needed. Dusting, Vacuum, cleaning restroom, washing dishes, and over all housekeeping of the Day Lodge. The Lead Day Lodge Coordinator is responsible for keeping track of consumption and inventory and place orders for food and supplies bi-weekly.

Day Lodge Coordinator
Summer 2008 (May 30 – September 15)

Description of job duties: This position assist Lead Day Lodge Coordinator in all facets of operation of Day Lodge. The primary responsibility of this position is: a) set up, restocking and break down of buffet style lunch bar and serve as dining room host in the Day Lodge, b) cleaning, dusting, vacuum, set up tables before and/or after lunch as needed, c) cleaning, stocking restrooms with all needed supplies, d) washing dishes, stocking and cleaning kitchen at the end of the day, and e) assist with maintenance projects as time allows. The employee may also be responsible for organizing, restocking, and conducting inventory assessment of the all food and supplies to facilitate placing of bi-weekly order. This employee works directly with the Management in merchandising, layout and order processing for the Bar and Gift Shop; organizing, restocking, and conducting inventory assessment as well as serving drinks, recording sales and collection of money

Description of job duties: The Housekeeping Lead coordinates and supervises the housekeeping department. This is a working supervisory position and includes performing basic housekeeping tasks (laundry, cleaning rooms, ect) and responsibility for training, coordinating and scheduling staff as well as maintaining inventory, ordering supplies, and keeping all facilities stocked, tidy and clean. The primary responsibility of this position is providing a high quality of service to guests by meeting and exceeding their requests and expectations. The employee works with the management to streamline processes and ensure the necessary resources are available for smooth and efficient operation. Housekeeping department also takes care of cleaning and washing buses.

 

Required: The candidate must possess at least two years of housekeeping and supervisory experience, enthusiasm and a strong customer oriented attitude.
